Bhadrachalam is one of the most famous temples in Andhrapradesh. Lord Srirama is the main deity here. Bhadra did penance for SriRama and got boons here. Hence the name Bhadrachala in the honour of Bhadra. Later on, in 17th century, Ramadasu (kancharla Gopanna) built this temple with the revenue collected from People. Because of this action King Tanisha got angry and imprisioned him in Golkonda fort for forteen years. In that time he wrote many bhajana keertanas on Lord Srirama. After that Lord Srirama along with his brother Lakshmana came to Tanishas house and gave the same amount of money that was used by Ramadasu to built the temple.
