In Madhyapradesh state there are two Jyotirlingas. One is Mahakaleswar at Ujjain and other one is Mamaleswar at Omkareswar. Both the jyotirlingas are seperated by 150 km distance only. we can travel from one place to other within 3 hours road journey. There are three ways two reach Omkareshwar from Ujjain. One is railway route and other two routes are road routes.

See: Ujjain to Omkareshwar Road map

Railway route: Though Ujjain and Omkareshwar road are linked by Ujjain Khandwa passenger, the time taken to reach destination is much more than time taken by Road route. It is not preferable choice.

Road Route - 1: First we have to travel in State Highway 27 upto Sanwer, then bypass Sanwer and Reach NH-3 at Mangliya. After that enter Indore Bypass road, and travel in that road upto Khandwa road junction. After that enter into Khandwa road and travel upto Omkareshwar road via Simol, Balwara and Barwah. After that enter Mortakka Omkareshwar road and reach Omkareshwar. This is about 140 km journey and takes 3 hours journey. Although this is Shortest journey, we will miss an oppurtunity to see Dewas Shaktipeeth. Because of that reason i will not prefer this route.

Road route - 2: In this route first we will reach Dewas and then from Dewas to Omkareshwar.
From Ujjai to Dewas: It is about 40 km distance between Ujjain and Dewas. We have to travel in State Highway -18, In outskirts of Ujjain we will see Vikram University. In Dewas Chamunda Shaktipeeth present on a small hill. Vehicles will not be allowed to climb hill. So we have to reach Chamunda shaktipeeth via steps route or via ghat road. At the feet of Dewas hill there are two ashrams, one is Swami Shivom teertha ashram and another one is Kabir ashram. On hill there are three temples, One Tulija bhavani temple (Called as Bade ma), second is Kali maa temple and third one is Chamunda mata temple. Gorakhnath gufa also present here. We can do a parikrama to this hill while visiting three temples.
From Dewas to Omkareshwar: It is about 120 km distance journey. First we have to travel in National Highway 3 upto Indore Bypass road, then we have to travel in Bypass road and reach Khandwa road, then in Khandwa road up to Omkareshwar road via Simol, Balwara and Barwah, from there in Mortakka Omkareshwar road to reach Omkareshwar jyotirling. This is the best route to reach Omkareshwar from Ujjain.
